Cornell Lab of Ornithology Young Birders Event

Four-day residential event in Ithaca, NY for high schoolers passionate about birds, connecting them with ornithologists and other bird-related career professionals through fieldwork, talks, and hands-on workshops.

High school-aged young birders (students entering grades 10-12 in the fall, generally ages 14 – 17) from anywhere in the world are invited to apply.

Applications for the June 2026 event are closed. Applications for the June 2027 event will open in February 2027.

The Young Birders Event aims to bring together teenagers with a passion for birds and interested in pursing a career in the field.
