California Archaeological Site Stewardship Program (CASSP)
A statewide volunteer program that trains members of the public to monitor and report on the condition of archaeological and historic sites. Training is a free online classroom day plus an optional in-the-field day; best suited to older, responsible teens alongside adult volunteers.
CASSP volunteer training workshops take two days
The first day consists of an online classroom session, which is free and open to the public
The second day is a field trip to view sites and record observations
How to Apply
- Attend a free online classroom session
- Sign a confidentiality agreement
- Pay a $25 fee for field trip materials
- Participate in a field trip to archaeological sites
