Alameda Family Services Youth Advisory Board
A youth advisory board run through Alameda Family Services' school-based health centers, where Alameda Unified School District high school students identify and address topics such as mental health, sexual health, healthy relationships, and body image.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with a yearly submission deadline of April 15th.

AFS oversees a Master’s Level internship program where trainees provide no-cost mental health support to students at one of Alameda’s 15 public school sites.

Youth Leadership Institute: Tobacco Prevention – Youth Advisory Group
A San Mateo County student-led advocacy group for grades 8-12 that raises awareness about tobacco and vaping, consults on county tobacco-control initiatives, and uses tools like Photovoice to document community health issues.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
The nation's premier youth health and safety organization, operating student-led high school chapters that run peer education and advocacy programming on substance use prevention, traffic safety, and personal health decision-making.
Youth Leadership Institute: K-12 Behavioral Health Services Campaign
A statewide, three-year youth advocacy program in which teams across California counties (including Marin, San Mateo, and Sacramento) research and advocate for improvements to California's Behavioral Health Services Act, presenting findings to local and state legislators.
